700 WLW morning host Mike McConnell is in his final week hosting the morning show. His colleague, Bill Cunningham, has shed light on the timeline for finding the replacement.

In a post to social media on Tuesday, Cunningham, who hosts middays on 700 WLW, shared that the permanent replacement for McConnell will begin hosting the show on Monday morning.

“Announcement due very soon on Mike’s replacement…starting Monday,” Cunningham wrote.

He added that, “Choices are many but one will be selected to walk in the shoes of Jim Scott and Mike McConnell. Who would you like to be the Chosen One?”

McConnell announced last week that he was ending his time with the iHeartMedia Cincinnati news/talk station.

“Three years ago, when I signed my present contract, I pretty much made up my mind it was going to be the last one and told management over a year ago,” said McConnell at the time of his announcement. “I’ll miss a lot of aspects of it, but look forward to it at the same time.

“I’ll have no regrets, because I’ve done this for a long time. I did the math and realized I started doing this for a living in April of ’75, so that’s fifty years. And that’s enough,” said McConnell. “I’ve enjoyed it, great job, most of my life and I’ll miss it. We’ll have plenty of time to talk about it between now and then. Last Friday will be my last day on the radio.”
