Former KFI-AM 640 News Director Chris Little has launched a podcast, with a focus on helping improve the approach, writing, and newsgathering operations of local news staffs.

The Death of News focuses on how news media members can work more efficiently and effectively, while ensuring they get accurate information that allows for compelling and memorable stories.

The first episode of the show focused on a local news story from San Bernardino County after a sheriff’s deputy was killed in a helicopter accident. In the news story, a witness was used to describe the scene. However, the witness did not actually witness anything but the aftermath. Little went through how he would have coached that reporter to provide better context for the audience and how to gather more impactful stories.

Chris Little was originally joined the station in 1991 before being named News Director at KFI-AM 640 in October 2000. He held that position at the venerable iHeartMedia news/talk station until he, along with nearly two dozen news staffers, exited the outlet amid ongoing layoffs by the station’s parent company late last year. Little’s exit coincided with longtime Program Director Robin Bertolucci stepping down from her position leading KFI after 22 years last November.
