The Radio Hall of Fame announced its latest class of 2025, honoring ten iconic broadcasters whose voices, leadership, and influence have helped shape the broadcast industry. The inductees will be celebrated during an in-person ceremony on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the Swissotel in Chicago. Notably, one of the inductees was FOX Sports Radio host Colin Cowherd, who began his broadcasting career calling play-by-play for the San Diego Padres’ AAA affiliate in Las Vegas.

Cowherd reacted to the news of his induction into the Radio Hall of Fame during his Monday edition of The Herd.

“When I was seven years old, my mom bought me a transistor radio,” said Cowherd. “That’s all I ever wanted to do was radio. I grew up in a small town. There wasn’t cable television. Radio is what I always wanted to do, so sometimes things in your life line up.”

Cowherd joined FOX Sports in August of 2015 after a 12-year run with ESPN. Prior to his time at ESPN, he had already built a foundation in both radio and television with stops in Las Vegas, Tampa, and Portland. Furthermore, Cowherd said he was alerted to the news by the overwhelming amount of reaction he received Monday morning.

“I woke up and there were about 20-30 texts, and it’s increased. I’ll get to all of them. Thank you,” said Cowherd. “I was one of the lucky ones that this is what I wanted to do for a living, and it just happened to line up and I got to do what I wanted to do.”

Cowherd will be recognized in Chicago along with nine other inductees. Six of the inductees were selected through a national voting process involving over 900 industry professionals. Meanwhile, the other four were chosen by the Radio Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. Additionally, Votem.com managed the vote, with Miller Kaplan’s Andrew Rosen monitoring it to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.

In closing, Cowherd expressed deep appreciation for his career journey. He concluded his remarks by exclaiming he’s had a “good life” and is incredibly grateful for it.
