Dr. Peter Attia joined the network late last month in a widespread addition to CBS News made by Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss. After Attia was announced, exchanges between the new contributor and Jeffrey Epstein were released in a batch of files shared by the Department of Justice. The two shared crude messages with one another. However, Attia denied participating in any illegal activities.

Once the exchanges — which included his name appearing 1,700 times in the 3 million documents — came to light, Attia apologized for his conduct.

“I apologize and regret putting myself in a position where emails, some of them embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible, are now public, and that is on me,” Attia said. “I accept that reality and the humiliation that comes with it.”

After the correspondence came to light, Weiss was reportedly hesitant to sever ties with Dr. Peter Attia, stating it would amount to cancel culture. The network initially determined that Attia would remain on its roster of contributors. Attia ultimately decided against remaining with the network and resigned his position on Monday, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
