CNN has announced the appointment of Amanda Wills to the role of Group Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer within the network’s Global News Organization.
In the newly created role, Wills will be responsible for leading the company’s efforts in its digital transformation across its television, digital, and streaming platforms.
“Wills will be integral in partnering with CNN’s product teams on the company’s digital transformation and future experiences,” a statement from CNN announcing the addition reads.
The move marks a return to the network for Amanda Wills. Before joining The Wall Street Journal as its Chief Content Officer of Video, she spent six years at CNN in a variety of leadership roles. After working as an executive producer of breaking news for CNN Digital, she was Vice President of Content Programming for the short-lived CNN+ streaming platform.
In addition to her time at The Wall Street Journal, Amanda Wills also previously worked at Mashable in its startup phase.
Wills — who will report to the Executive Editor of Editorial — will be based at the network’s New York bureau. She’ll begin her new role on Monday, April 14th.
