Yesterday ESPN dropped an “episode zero” of Mike Greenberg’s new podcast I’m Interested. The first episode, which is meant to give people something to subscribe to before the first actual episode comes out, features Greenberg talking about the project.
He says that the show will feature long-form interviews with people and about subjects he finds fascinating. He also says that for years he found the idea of doing a podcast “redundant.” When ESPN bosses would ask him about it, Greenberg says he would say that first with Mike & Mike and now with Get Up! he feels like he gets enough airtime.
Greenberg says it was David Letterman that changed his mind. It wasn’t a one-on-one conversation, but instead watching what the legendary talk show host has done with his new Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, that inspired him.
Former Raiders CEO and current Big3 CEO Amy Trask will be Greenberg’s first guest on I’m Interested. In episode zero Greenberg also mentioned that he would have Bob Costas, Walt Frazier, Jay Wright, NBA Players’ Association chief Michelle Roberts, and author Harlan Coben on various future episodes.
