NBC has ordered a pilot based not he life of Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons. The show ill be produced by LeBron James. Should it go to series, it would make it the fourth show currently scheduled or slated for a future debut produced by James. It also puts James in business with a third different network. He has had two previous projects picked up by HBO and one picked up by Showtime.
The show is called Brotherly Love and will center on Simmons’ relationship with his multi-ethnic family. Simmons will not star in the show himself. He and his brother Sean Tribe will serve as consultants on the project. James and Fresh off the Boat executive producer Kourtney Kang will oversee the project.
Simmons’ father, Dave Simmons, is an African-American that played professionally in Australia. His mother, Julie, is an Australia native. The couple raised Simmons, his sister Olivia, and their four half-siblings spanning 15 years in age difference, in the same house. That is where most of the storylines will come from according to an article in Deadline.
