It’s rare that someone is at ESPN for 25 years these days, but that is the case with Baseball Tonight host Karl Ravech. And it looks like ESPN has given us a sign they want to remain in the Ravech business for a long time. Karl’s son, Sam Ravech, announced on Twitter that he will leave his role as play-by-play man for the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels to join ESPN.
Officially signed my contract with ESPN. Thank you to all who have helped me get here. I am both honored and grateful for the opportunity and excited for the future. pic.twitter.com/acQsAx80sB

The younger Ravech says in his post that he will handle college play-by-play including baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Sam made his ESPN play-by-play debut last November, calling a basketball game between Miami and Tulane on ESPN3. He had joined his father and John Kruck on some regional Little League World Series broadcasts prior to that.
Sam Ravech is 23-years-old and obviously has grown up around the business and around ESPN. He never had a second thought about wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, or at least share an employer, tweeting “To say this has been a dream of mine for a long time is putting it lightly.”
