Rip City Radio host Travis Demers will be the voice of the Portland Trail Blazers to open the season. His first assignment will be to follow the team to British Columbia on September 29th for a preseason game against the Toronto Raptors.
Brian Wheeler, who has been the voice of the Trail Blazers for the last 21 years, will be away from the team on a temporary medical leave. “Continuing to steer my health in a positive direction is the top priority for me,” he said in a press release. “I’m looking forward to being back in action as soon as I can.”
Demers is a staple in Oregon sports. He has co-hosted The Rip City Drive on NBCSNW Rip City Radio with Chad Doing since 2014. Before that he was on 1080 the Fan for 10 years. He also calls play-by-play of Portland Pilots men’s basketball and high school sports on the OSAA Radio Network. Demers will work with former Blazer Michael Holton on home games and with Trail Blazers Insider Casey Holdahl on the road.
