Alex Rodriguez will not be returning to ABC’s Good Morning America. He first signed on to contribute to that show and other ABC News programs a little over a year ago. ARod was supposed to be ABC’s go to commentator to discuss stories about sports, fitness, and personal finance.
Rodriguez’s representatives believe he was never properly used by ABC. With a former athlete, Michael Strahan, already serving as host of GMA, they felt like there was never really a spot on the show for Rodriguez. They also pointed to the former Yankee’s other commitments, in particular his busy Sunday Night Baseball schedule, as making it difficult to establish any regular presence on the show.
This won’t be the end of ARod’s media presence outside of baseball if he gets his way. He recently appeared on NBC’s The Today Show to promote his CNBC series Back in the Game. He has also made appearances on ABC’s Shark Tank and pitched an idea to HBO for a show that would feature him interviewing some of the most successful minds in the business world.
Of course, he isn’t done with his work in the baseball media either. Rodriguez will be part of Fox’s MLB postseason coverage.
