September was an historic month for ESPN Podcasts. RawVoice measured the company receiving 39.3 million downloads across all shows. That represents the most downloads in any one month span and a 50% increase in listening from the same time last year.
It isn’t hard to figure out what lead the growth. The new NFL season lead to Fantasy Focus Football having its best month in the show’s 10-year history. The show clocked in at just under 4.6 million downloads, making it the most listened to podcast-exclusive show. The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz lead all shows with 8.2 million downloads in September.
The previous record for ESPN Podcasts is 36 million total downloads in a month. That was set in May of this year. In addition to top performers like the ones mentioned above, several shows including The Paul Finebaum Show, The Jump, and Freddie & Fitzsimmons doubled their audience from the same time period in 2017.
