TNT is getting very experimental with its coverage of the UEFA Champions League. The network will air the match between FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur at 3pm on December 11, and it will use two analysts and no play-by-play man. What is even stranger is that one of those analysts isn’t even a former soccer player or manager.
Former Premier League and USMNT player Stu Holden will be in the booth alongside two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash. Both men have been a part of Turner’s coverage of the Champions League, appearing on studio shows for both TNT and B/R Live, where the duo has shown strong chemistry together.
TNT is treating the pairing as something of an event. The network even produced a video for social media to promote their work on the Barcelona/Tottengam match.
