The hype around this season’s Duke basketball team is paying off for ESPN. Interest in the team and its young superstars like Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish, and RJ Barrett has made the Blue Devils must see TV.
Ratings for Duke games are up 18% over last season. That growth is also fueling an overall audience growth for college basketball on ESPN and ESPN2. All games on those networks have experienced a 5% audience growth from last season.
The real testament to Duke’s popularity is that every game on the list of most watched ESPN basketball games this season include the Blue Devils. The team’s season opening win over Kentucky in early November is the most watched college basketball game of the season thus far.
