Former KSTP program director Brad Lane is the new boss at WTMJ and ESPN Milwaukee. He replaces Eric Brooks, who left WTMJ in November to join KCBS in San Francisco. Lane was let go from Hubbard Broadcasting in August as part of the sweeping changes that ended with ESPN 1500 rebranding as Skor North.
Lane’s first day on the job will be February 6. Good Karma Bands Milwaukee VP/GM Steve Wexler cited “leadership, vision, and creativity” as the qualities that make Lane the right man for the job.
“This is a dream role to work with a legacy station like WTMJ and the powerful brand of ESPN Milwaukee,” Lane said in a press release. “I’m excited to work with the incredible team and resources available to make our content more engaging, relevant and obtainable on all platforms, along with helping to cultivate and foster development of personalities on all our stations.”
In addition to the local sports programming on ESPN Milwaukee, Lane will also oversee WTMJ’s play-by-play relationships with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Green Bay Packers.
