AAF Adds More Broadcast Partners, Streaming Deal

The Alliance of American Football announced last week that it had a reached a deal with CBS to air the league’s games on CBS Sports Network. Today, John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal reports that two more TV partners have been secured by the league.

A deal with Turner will see one regular season game and one playoff game per year air on TNT. Ourand reports that the regular season game this year will be the Salt Lake Stallions’ visit to Birmingham. It will be TNT’s lead in to the NBA All-Star game on February 16.

The company’s OTT platform, B/R Live, will carry AAF games as well. A “game of the week” package will begin on February 23.

Ourand says that a deal with the NFL Network is forthcoming as well. He reports that two games per week will air on that network.

It might be unfair to say that next season’s debut of the new XFL is driving this deal, but it is worth noting that last week it was reported that Vince McMahon was trying to secure deals with both ESPN and Fox to ensure every regular season game of his rebooted football game was on television.
