Ron Darling announced last month that he would be taking time away from the New York Mets television booth to deal with a health issue. On Monday, the former pitcher revealed what that issue is.
The New York Mets responded with a Tweet wishing Darling well.
Less than a week after Darling announced his medical leave, Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez wished their broadcast partner a speedy and easy recovery after announcing that his surgery was a success. Darling told viewers right away that there was a mass in his chest that required surgery. This week is the first time that he confirmed that mass was indeed cancer.
