Rod Bramblett And Wife Killed In Car Accident

Rod Bramblett and his wife were killed in a car crash over the weekend. Bramblett was 52-years-old. His wife, Paula, was 53.

Bramblett had served as the radio voice of Auburn Tigers football and basketball since 2003. He was the voice of the school’s baseball team for eleven years prior to that. Auburn fans associate his voice with some very important moments in the school’s sports history including the 2010 BCS National Championship Game, this year’s appearance in the Final Four, the first in school history, and probably most notably the Kick Six, one of the most unbelievable moments in the history of college football.

Rod Bramblett was driving the couple’s Toyota Highlander in Auburn on Saturday night when the vehicle was rear-ended by a teenage driver in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The teen sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Paula Bramblett was airlifted from the scene. The severity of her injuries forced her flight to be diverted to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room. Rod Bramblett was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He died from a closed head injury.
