For all the stories of the Toronto Raptors’ presence in the NBA Finals having a negative effect on American television ratings, there are very different stories in the Great White North. According to the NBA, Canadians can’t get enough of having a team from their country in the NBA Finals.
The first game of the series was simulcast across Sportsnet National, Sportsnet One, and RDS. It drew 8 million viewers and was the highest rated NBA game in Canadian history. Twenty-two percent of the Canadian population saw the game.
Game 2, which was simulcast across TSN, CTV2 and RDS, outrated Game 1. That simulcast drew 10.1 million viewers, making it the highest rated NBA game in Canadian history.
Canadian ratings information for Game 3 is not yet available.
