MSG Networks are dedicating their digital and linear platforms to the NBA and NHL Drafts this week. The programming package has been dubbed Rookie Week and is designed to give fans in depth coverage of the top prospects in a year when the Knicks, Rangers, and Devils are all picking in the top 3 of their respective drafts.
The networks’ nightly talk show, MSG 150, is planning two special broadcasts this week. On Thursday the cast and crew will get started at 7:30 pm and be on during the NBA Draft to bring viewers live reaction to the top picks, including the third overall slot, which belongs to the Knicks. The next night MSG 150 will get started at 8 pm and be on live during the NHL Draft, which will see the New Jersey Devils pick 1st, the New York Rangers pick 2nd and again at number twenty, and then the New York Islanders take the 23rd pick.
Other Rookie Week programming will feature looks back at the rookie seasons of some of New York’s most iconic athletes in their rookie seasons. MSG analysts that played on the pro level will share their draft night stories.
The popular blog Knicks Film School will also be involved. The blog will host breakdowns of the Knicks’ 2018-2019 rookie class’s performance in its first NBA season as well as in-depth looks at the top prospects in the 2019 NBA Draft.
