Washington DC’s newly launched ESPN 630 bolstered their lineup by adding Carol Maloney to host the station’s midday show. Cumulus Media announced The Carol Maloney Show will debut Tuesday, August 6th, airing every weekday from 10am – noon.
Maloney is well-known by Washington DC sports fans, having covered the local teams since 2001. The former Comcast and NBC Sports Washington reporter will continue her work on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network for Nationals games. This isn’t Maloney’s first weekday radio gig either, the new ESPN 630 personality co-hosted middays on WTEM with Dave Feldman in 2007.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled and thankful for this opportunity,” Maloney said in a press release. “I’ve spent most of my career in the nation’s capital passionately following and covering the sports teams in town. Luckily, I’ve made a lot of friends and contacts along the way and will be calling on all of them. It’ll be ‘Carol & Company’. Can’t wait to get started!!”
Maloney joins the weekday lineup on Washington DC’s newest sports radio station that features a mix of local and network programming from ESPN. Last week, ESPN 630 debuted The Bram Weinstein Show in afternoon drive, featuring Weinstein who was a weekday host on WTEM for two years, until the station made cuts in 2018.
“I’ve admired Carol’s energy, passion, and journalism since we first worked together a dozen years ago,” added ESPN 630 program director Bill Hess. “Her relationships with the players, coaches, reporters, and sports fans in our town are unmatched.”
Andy Pollin, who was recently announced as an ESPN 630 contributor, will also be heard on The Carol Maloney Show. Pollin has spent nearly 30 years as a sports radio personality in Washington DC, now anchoring 630’s local updates during their broadcast of ESPN’s Golic and Wingo.
