Police Get Warrant For Seth Dunlap’s Phone

New Orleans police have obtained a warrant to search Seth Dunlap’s phone after WWL claimed it had evidence that pointed to Dunlap having sent homophobic tweets from the official WWL account to himself. The warrant will allow the NOPD to obtain information about Dunlap’s account from his wireless provider, T-Mobile.

WWL-TV, which is not affiliated with the radio station, reports that Dunlap told local Entercom bosses that he would “go scorched Earth” over the incident. He also demanded $1.8 million.

Dunlap has hosted a night time sports show on WWL since 2017. He is also part of the New Orleans Saints radio studio team. He has been on leave from the radio station since last month.

On September 5, he wrote an open letter to Drew Brees criticizing the Saints QB’s support of the anti-LGBTQ organization Focus on the Family. In that letter, Dunlap acknowledged that he was openly gay. Two weeks later, the official WWL Twitter account responded to one of Dunlap’s tweets with a homophobic slur.

WWL and Entercom claim the results of their internal investigation suggest that the tweet was sent from Dunlap’s personal cellphone. According to Ramon Antonio Vargas and Kevin Allman of NOLA.com, WWL had begun receiving letters from creditors asking that Dunlap’s wages be garnished to pay off debt.

Dunlap and his attorney Meagan Keifer have previously released results of a polygraph test, which suggest Dunlap was telling the truth about not being involved in the incident beyond being a victim. They have announced plans to sue Entercom for creating a hostile work environment. Keifer had no comment regarding the warrant.
