Former ESPN NFL reporter Britt McHenry has filed a lawsuit calling Fox News “a sanctuary for sexual harassers.” She is suing the network and her former co-host George Murdoch, professionally known as “Tyrus.”
McHenry and Tyrus were co-hosting a show called Un-PC. She claims that Tyrus sent her text messages about her body and threatened to send her a picture of his penis. According to the lawsuit, she complained to the network four times, but FOX News refused to investigate some of those claims. The suit also claims that the network retaliated against McHenry by shutting her out of company events and refusing to book her as a guest to promote Un-PC on other FOX News shows.
In her lawsuit, McHenry claims that Tyrus convinced FOX HR representatives to drop one investigation by showing them doctored photos to make it appear the two were exchanging flirty messages and suggestive photos. She claims some of the photos Tyrus provided investigators were not of her at all.
“Ms. McHenry’s lawsuit recycles the same allegations she filed with the New York State Division of Human Rights in October, to which we filed a response on Friday,” A FOX News rep told TMZ. “As we have previously stated, Ms. McHenry’s allegations have been fully investigated and we are confident our actions will be deemed entirely appropriate in litigation. We expect all of her claims to be dismissed.”
McHenry posted her own statement that reads in part: “I am standing up for myself, for women and for what’s right. I have maintained the same allegations because the truth doesn’t change. I feel for any sexual harassment victim who has their story and evidence dismissed, doubted and not believed.”
