Tim Kurkjian appeared on the midnight edition of SportsCenter on Wednesday morning. There, host Scott Van Pelt announced that Kurkjian and ESPN had agreed to a contract extension.
“Three more years of getting to go to games, watch games, and write about games,” Kurkjian said on the show. “Nothing makes me happier.”
It is an ideal time of year to announce new contracts for some of ESPN’s biggest names covering Major League Baseball. As some of the league’s biggest stars sign new deals across the league, it makes sense that ESPN would want to keep its own house in order heading into the new year. The network also announced a new deal for Eduardo Perez on Tuesday.
Kurkjian has been a valuable contributor across a number of ESPN platforms. In addition to appearances on Baseball Tonight, he has also been the focus of a popular weekly segment of ESPN Radio’s Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.
