Gaming industry veteran Kevin Knocke is at the center of a new show about eSports. Westwood One has launched a new podcast called Esports 30. It features Knocke interviewing some of the biggest names in the world of video games and giving his opinions on the biggest news.
“Esports is now big enough that it can’t rely on the sunshine and rainbows perspective that it’s the ‘next big thing’ so we need to understand how to develop a sustainable infrastructure for the long term,” Knocke said in a press release. “I’ll be inviting on guests with a broad viewpoint of the industry as a whole as well as game-specific experts who are willing to take an honest look at their game and reflect on improvements needed.”
In addition to reacting to news and welcoming guests, Knocke will also examine Esports’ role in pop culture. Some Esports 30 episodes will examine how the industry has influenced mental health and fashion.
This won’t be Knocke’s first hosting experience. He has also hosted Esports radio shows and podcasts for Bleacher Report on SiriusXM, the Universal Open for NBC Sports, and Esports Weekly at IGN.
“Kevin has a clear vision, deep-rooted experience, and a genuine passion for esports,” Suzanne Grimes, EVP Marketing for Cumulus Media and President of Westwood One, said in a press release. “He’s a relatable expert offering a unique blend of interviews and honest discourse on what’s happening behind the scenes.
