With their non-compete clause over, Ben Rogers and Jeff “Skin” Wade were finally able to announce their next radio home in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. The former 105.3 the Fan mid day show is making the move to rock radio. They will be the new early afternoon show on 97.1 the Eagle.
The duo made the announcement in a YouTube video recorded at Pluckers, a restaurant that has been a loyal advertiser for years.
“We’re going to control our own destiny,” Rogers said in the video. He told his fans that the Ben & Skin show was starting to “feel the tide turning”.
The Eagle is a mainstream rock station owned by iHeartMedia. The station has a long history of supporting personality-based radio. The duo shouted out the late Kidd Kraddick and Russ Martin, who they will be working with at their new station.
“The Eagle is an iconic DFW radio brand,” Wade said in the video. “Ben and I looked at this as a way to team up with iconic DFW radio history.”
Rogers said it was not hard to give up sports radio, stressing that no one has ever said they were loyal to the show because of an opinion about Dak Prescott. He shouted out Howard Stern, whose iconic show was heard on The Eagle in the early and mid 90s.
“When I think of what our show can be at it’s highest height, I don’t think ‘I wanna be like Skip Bayless.’ I think ‘I wanna be like Howard Stern.”
Ben and Skin makes its debut on 97.1 the Eagle on February 10.
