Despite a lack of live games, Major League Baseball is still recognizing April 16 as Jackie Robinson Day. SiriusXM’s MLB Network Radio is celebrating with a full day of programming including audio documentaries and classic games.
The day kicked off with a rebroadcast of Game Six of the 1956 World Series. Robinson drove in the game winning run for the Dodgers with a hit in the tenth inning of that game. The New York Yankees would go on to win that series in the next game.
Today’s celebration of Jackie Robinson will conclude with a rebroadcast of another significant moment in the history of Major League Baseball. At 8 pm Eastern, the channel will re-air the Braves game against the Dodgers from April 8, 1974. That is when Hank Aaron his home run number 715 to surpass Babe Ruth as the league’s all time leader in home runs.
Both games, as well as all of the documentary programming, will be available on the SiriusXM app after they air on the satellite service.
