1620 the Zone is showing support for those fighting Covid-19 on the front lines. The station is one of seven at NRG Media in Omaha asking listeners to wear red on Friday’s to show support for local doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other health care professionals. The campaign was created in partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine.
“This was a no brainer. Once I received the call from one of our P1 listeners, Dr. Paul Aylward from UNMC asking for our support for their employees and all health care workers I immediately said yes,” NRG Media GM, Mark Shecterle said in a press release. “These incredible individuals are putting their life on the line to save us. It is the least we could do, and I could not be more proud of how my team has rallied around this cause. It’s incredible.”
Staffs of all seven NRG stations recorded a video promoting the campaign. It can be found on the group’s YouTube channel.
“The support of NRG Media has been phenomenal, truly exceeding our expectations,” said Dr. Aylward, who is a member of the UNMC House Officers Association. “They have become an integral part of achieving our goal of reaching the entire community. Seeing the red every week means so much to all of our frontline health care workers. We can feel the support each time someone posts a picture.”
