The NBA has done a great job of remaining a topic of conversation throughout the COVID-19 forced sports’ shutdown, in large part thanks to the success of ESPN’s Chicago Bulls docuseries The Last Dance.
There are numerous basketball stories that deserve a deeper dive, and the 1992 U.S. Olympic men’s basketball “Dream Team” is certainly one that generates interest. iHeartRadio and Diversion Podcasts are partnering to provide a closer look at arguably the greatest sports team ever assembled with a new podcast series.
Titled The Dream Team Tapes, the podcast is hosted by longtime Sports Illustrated writer Jack McCallum and will debut May 18 with its first two episodes. The podcast is said to offer never-before-heard recorded interviews and will feature Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Karl Malone.
“I captured this incredible audio material with the guys from The Dream Team,” McCallum said in the press release. “Diversion worked with me to create what I hope will be a really entertaining podcast about a great time in hoops. And, with iHeartRadio, we now have the perfect partner to reach fans young and old.”
McCallum covered the “Dream Team” during the ’92 Olympics in Barcelona and has authored 10 books during his career, including New York Times bestseller “Dream Team.”
