Actor David Spade spent seven years as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He was in his second season on the show when Michael Jordan came in to host the season premier. On Tuesday, Spade shared stories from Jordan’s week at 30 Rockefeller Center with Colin Cowherd on FOX Sports Radio.
“He was such a superstar,” Spade said of Jordan. “He was signing so many autographs that there was a line outside of his dressing room slowing down rehearsal. The show had to stop it. First time they had to do that.”
As for his favorite moment of Jordan’s episode, Spade says it came in a sketch he got to be on stage for.
“We did this hilarious Washington Generals sketch where we didn’t want him on our team. It was five white guys and we didn’t want him. Because he was so good we fired him off the team. I didn’t have a line, but he had a line where he says ‘You’re all getting rid of me?’ and then he looked right at me and said ‘even you, Pee Wee?’ and I just turned my head in shame and he gets a huge laugh.”
Spade acknowledged that he is a little behind on The Last Dance, but has been watching and said that he is enjoying watching how rough the NBA used to be. “They should have had police instead of refs!” he joked.
