ESPN & ABC Considers MegaCast For Week 2 MNF Game

September 21 is currently scheduled to see the Raiders play their first regular season home game in Las Vegas. It will be a Monday Night Football game against the New Orleans Saints. It is an historic event for the NFL and the city of Las Vegas.

It is also an historic event for the Monday Night Football brand. On that date, Monday Night Football will celebrate its 50th anniversary and according to Front Office Sports, ESPN is kicking around the idea of a MegaCast to celebrate.

According to Michael McCarthy, “Broadcast network ABC could televise a straightforward simulcast of ESPN’s telecast. However, ESPN may ‘MegaCast’ that evening’s Monday Night Football game the way it offers more than a dozen alternate watching options for the CFP National Championship Game, said sources.”

That could mean that multiple broadcasting teams would be used for the event. That might open the door to bring back analysts from Monday Night Football‘s history to be a part of the event. If ESPN and ABC go through with a MegaCast plan, it would be the first time in 15 years.

  1. Many of the greats from MNF past are now “Past” other work work for other networks that would not let them be on MNF So lets go down the list those who have past on are Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford, Keith Jackson and Don Meridith, Those who would not be able to join because they work for other networks Boomer, Tirico and Al Michaels Also John Gruden would be coaching that game. WOW I do not know how to spell I guess. So you would have a bunch or people like Chris Berman or Joe T and Booger. No one wants that. Maybe you could get Fouts and Maden or Tony K. but this is a bad idea.
