Philly Sports Radio icon Howard Eskin is walking to Tampa, or at least he’s walking the distance it would take him to get to Tampa. It’s a soft version of Forrest Gump, but the longtime SportsRadio 94 WIP personality is still walking an impressive 1,103 miles for two great causes.
With his quarantine beard, Eskin looks like someone who could be in the middle of a walk from Philly to Tampa, but the 1,103 miles are symbolic of the distance between the Eagles home stadium Lincoln Financial Field and the site of Super Bowl LV.
With all of his free time during quarantine this spring, Eskin said he decided to take up walking in March. Now he’s logging his miles to raise money for Brandywine Valley SPCA and Philabundance. Brandywine Valley SPCA is a pet rescue and affordable veterinary clinic, while Philabundance supports people affected by COVID-19.
Eskin has already walked more than half of his goal to Tampa, which means he could be somewhere near Myrtle Beach right now.
