Kirk Herbstreit Wins 5th Emmy, Most In ESPN History

The Sports Emmys were handed out on August 11 and it was a good night for ESPN. It won more awards than any other network. It was also an historic night for one of its most high-profile personalities.

Kirk Herbstreit was honored with the Emmy for Outstanding Event Analyst. It’s the second time he has won the award. He also has three Emmys for Outstanding Studio Analyst. The five total trophies makes him the most decorated personality in ESPN history. He had previously been tied with Dick Schapp.

ESPN took home a total of eight Sports Emmys. In addition to Herbstreit, winners included the special “Don’t Give Up On Me” and two awards each for E:60, SC Featured, and the network’s NFL coverage.

“At a time when we have been reminded of the important place sports has in the lives of fans, we are thrilled to have our efforts honored with eight Sports Emmy Awards,” Connor Schell, ESPN executive vice president of content said in a press release.
