Journalist Josie Huang was in Lynwood, Calif., covering an anti-police protest back on Sept. 12th. While filming the arrest of a protestor, Huang was thrown to the ground by Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies. The footage of her arrest went viral.
The KPCC and LAist reporter went into custody on the grounds of running towards deputies and ignoring orders to stay back during a demonstrator’s arrest. Now the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated that they would not be pursuing criminal charges against the reporter due to “insufficient evidence” from the sheriff’s department, The Hill reports.
Huang took to Twitter to send out a statement on the district attorney’s office’s decision not to proceed with any charges towards her.
Huang stated that although she’s gratified with the decision, the KPCC reporter will look for a way to wipe the arrest from her record.
