106.7 The Fan Excels in DC’s Summer Ratings Book

Washington D.C.’s 106.7 The Fan produced another solid ratings performance, finishing with top-10 rankings across the board in the summer book.

In weekday prime (M-F 6a – 7p), The Fan was 6th with a 5.3 share for their target demo of men 25-54. We don’t have spring numbers to compare, but in the winter ratings period, The Fan earned a 7 share. Surely, part of the reason for the decline can be attached to the global pandemic, where less people were commuting, and sports came to an abrupt four-month halt.

These numbers do not include the stream, which could have seen an uptick in listening with less people on the road because of increased work-from-home directives. Still, The Fan was steady across all dayparts for over-the-air listening.

In morning drive, The Sports Junkies were 8th with a 4.5 for the summer book, a little more than half the number they produced in the winter quarter.

From 10a – 2p, The Fan’s midday show featuring Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier turned in a 6.4 share, good enough to claim 4th place in the market and impressively almost identical to their winter number. In afternoon drive, Chad Dukes Vs. The World did a 4.8, finishing 6th in the 2 – 6p timeslot, down nearly two points from the winter book.

The D.C. market offers two additional competing sports radio stations, The Team 980 and ESPN 630 The Sports Capitol which launched just over one year ago. Ratings data was not available from either station.
