Twitter Turns To Play-By-Players To Celebrate Election Results

Twitter can be a toxic place filled with trolls hiding behind anonymity. It can also be a place where people show off the most delightfully dumb examples of their creativity.

The latter has been the case when it comes to revealing election results. In the wee hours of Friday morning, former Vice President Joe Biden overtook Donald Trump as the leader in both Pennsylvania and Georgia. It is a big moment for Democrats as either would be enough, if current vote totals hold, to win the White House.

Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina highlighted two very creative celebrations from liberal Twitter users that incorporated the biggest names in sports broadcasting. First, The Ringer’s Jason Gallagher used audio from ESPN/ABC’s Mike Breen to celebrate the lead change in Georgia.

Not to be outdone by basketball, hockey fan @amc424 tweeted the flip of Pennsylvania with recently retired Doc Emrick on the call.

There is still a long way to go before we know who will be President of the United States this time next year. The two states highlighted here have vote totals so close that recounts will likely be triggered. For a moment though, it is nice to see the sports world used to lighten the mood a bit.
