WLW-AM’s overnight trucking show is coming to an end after 36 years. America’s Truckin’ Network, which was on midnight-to-5 a.m. by truckers and night owls across 38 states, is being discontinued after the network let go of host Steve Sommers.
Despite the show’s cancellation, it does air on 700wlw program schedule, and as a result, Dan Carroll, a veteran TV newscaster, told listeners that he would be hosting the show for the coming week. Furthermore, he stated that the cancellation of Sommers’ show was not made in Cincinnati.
“It is my understanding the decision to discontinue the show was made at the corporate level,” Carroll said.
With the show changing, Carroll encouraged those who could listen to help shape the replacement for America’s Truckin’ Network.
“I want your thoughts on what the overnight show should be, or what it could be. I hope you give me a chance,” Carroll said. “Things change, and we move on.”
