Changes are afoot at 1250 the Fan. Bill Michaels has announced his exit. The mid day host wrote a statement that was read on air by his executive producer Joe Zenzola on Friday.
In the statement, Michaels expressed his admiration for Entercom and his co-workers. He noted that he will be taking a brief break from radio saying that stress had begun to drag him down.
“I love radio and its ability to touch so many people informatively as well as passionately,” the statement read. “That drives me every day and will continue to run deep in my soul. I believe that if you trim back the dead branches, ultimately, the tree grows stronger. I hope to do just that.”
That left an opening for Ramie Makhlouf to return. Makhlouf was with the station from 2009 until 2019 in a variety of roles. He left in 2019 to join SKOR North in Minneapolis, where he remained until he exited along with many other staffers last year.
Makhlouf will team with Tim Allen, a staple of more than 30 years in the market. The duo will occupy afternoon drive.
That means The Wendy’s Big Show is on the move. Steve “Sparky” Fifer, Gary Ellerson, and LeRoy Butler go to mid days. Their show will be heard from 10 am until 2 pm.
