FOX News Debuts New Primetime Opinion Show

Fox News debuted its new opinion program Monday night with Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade at the helm. Fox News Primetime, was created to feed the appetite of conservative viewers in the hour.

The show will feature six rotating hosts, according to the Los Angeles Times. Those hosts include Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo and regular contributors to the network Katie Pavlich, Rachel Campos-Duffy, Mark Steyn and former congressman Trey Gowdy.

To pave the way for the new program, the network moved The Story with Martha MacCallum to 3:00 pm. Her program occupied the 7:00 p.m. time slot for the last three years.

Her program recently suffered a setback in the ratings after leading in that time slot last year. Fox News has fallen back in its overall ratings since the election as more people tune into CNN and MSNBC to follow the transition of power.

The aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol siege has reportedly harmed the network’s ratings as well.

The hosts for Fox News Primetime are not permanent. But it is likely that whichever one catches on with the audience could get the job full time.
