Al Jazeera will be launching a new media platform geared towards conservatives, which is a move that’s reportedly designed to appeal to people in the center-right who have stated they can’t find mainstream sources that speak to them.
The media platform will be known as Rightly and is going to be headed by Scott Norvell, a former News Corp. executive and Fox News president. The Hill reports that Norvell will assume the role of editor-in-chief.
Rightly’s first show will air on Thursday and be an opinion-led interview program called “Right Now with Stephen Kent,” according to Politico. Furthermore, Rightly will announce more content in the coming months as the media platform gets off the ground.
On Twitter, Kent would describe the media platform as “Somewhere between Dispatch, Reason and… Persuasion. My favorite newsletter.” Al Jazeera, which the Qatari government financially backs, has had mixed success in its past U.S.-focused efforts.
