After close to a year with the station, Josh Innes announced he’s parting ways with Houston’s ESPN 97.5. Technically, Innes was never a salaried employee of the station, and by the end of this week, he’ll no longer be their host.
Innes joined Gow Media’s ESPN 97.5 last May, shortly after the station was forced to make a couple of cuts to combat financial impacts of COVID-19. The lineup changes opened the door for Innes to return to Houston’s terrestrial airwaves in ESPN 97.5’s 2 – 4pm block.
But that show has now entered its final week on-air according to recent social media posts by Innes.
97.5 was the third sports radio station in Houston to house Innes’s show, previously hosting in drive time for Sports Radio 610 and SportsTalk 790, split by a stint on Philadelphia’s WIP in-between.
In a Facebook post, Innes cryptically alluded to having another gig lined up, “The good news is that we will be back very soon. Things are looking up,” the Baton Rouge native wrote, later adding that he’s not yet allowed to say his next stop.
Separate from his tenure on 97.5, Innes has continued to host a show on Twitch with his wife Jilly, a space that gives him total topical freedom. At most of his stops, Innes has displayed ratings success, but his unfiltered, cutthroat approach has sometimes been deemed too much for terrestrial radio.

I like Josh, most of the sports radio for Houston is legit team propaganda. Josh tells it like it is, and I dont agree with everything he says, but that’s what makes it fun.
I have listened to Josh for years.
He’s a special talent. I’ll miss him and If I find out where he’ll be
I will definately try to listen. He’s very funny and entertaining and most of all he’s real!!!
