According to WFAN Sports Radio New York’s Craig Carton, the NFL has reached a new television deal that begins in 2023. The new agreement will mark the end of NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV and Thursday Night Football on television.
“This is an 11-year deal, with an opt-out after seven years – which is 2030, because the current deal expires in 2023, at the end of the 2022 season,” Carton said of the Thursday Night Football deal with Amazon. “The Amazon deal is in the neighborhood of a billion dollars.”
Carton also reports that the Sunday Ticket package will be heading to ESPN+.
Fans’ first question will inevitably be the cost. Many will look to migrate from Direct TV, and Carton revealed the price tag for these subscriptons. Amazon Prime’s yearly subscriptions run $100-$120. As for ESPN+, fans can purchase multiple packages for $20 a month maximum.
As for the other Sunday and Monday broadcasts, there is no change. The NFL is extending its current deals with FOX, CBS, NBC, and ESPN.
