The 2021 Major League Baseball season is a couple of days away, and teams continue to put their final touches on their broadcasting arrangements. Various teams are heading down the road of allowing flagship radio stations to stream game-day broadcasts within their local market, and the latest to jump on this trend are the Milwaukee Brewers.
Inside Radio reports that Good Karma Brands news/talk WTMJ Milwaukee (620) will stream Brewers games on WTMJ.com and on the WTMJ app this season. Streams of Brewers games will begin April 1st on Opening Day when the team plays host to the Minnesota Twins.
“We’re thrilled to offer fans in the Milwaukee metro area another way to enjoy the excitement of Brewers baseball with Bob Uecker, Jeff Levering, and Lane Grindle,” VP/Market Manager Steve Wexler said. “Brewers baseball is the soundtrack of summer, and now it will be available in more ways than ever before.”
Streams will be available in the five-county Milwaukee metro area – Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Ozaukee, and Washington counties only, as the radio station complies with MLB restrictions on audio streaming.
“The Brewers and WTMJ Radio have one of the longest broadcast relationships in baseball, a tradition that dates back more than fifty years, and we know how much fans enjoy listening to games on the radio. Streaming games will give everyone in the five-county area another option for connecting to the action all season long,” Rick Schlesinger, President of Business Operations for the Milwaukee Brewers, said.
