Joe Torre, Bobby Valentine Partnering On Turner 9/11 Documentary

2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Turner Sports, in association with The Montag Group and Six West Media, has green-lighted a new project commemorating the tragedy and the role sports played in the country’s recovery.

“More Than Just a Game: Baseball Remembers 9/11” is a documentary that details the story of how baseball helped in the recovery for both New York and the nation.

“Sports can be a unifying force, and that was certainly evident in how baseball helped New York and our country come together in the aftermath of 9/11,” said Craig Barry, Chief Content Officer, Turner Sports. “We are proud to be able to share those enduring stories through this documentary, as we honor the many sacrifices that were made that day and thereafter.”

Joe Torre and Bobby Valentine, who were managers of the New York Yankees and Mets, respectively, during this time, will serve as executive producers for the documentary.

The New York Post points out that the decision to pair Valentine and Torre is interesting. The former Mets manager was critical of the Yankees during a 2013 interview where Valentine stated that the Yankees were not as involved as the Mets.

However, the Yankees have disputed this claim by Valentine. Perhaps it’s all water under the bridge, which is why Torre and Valentine have signed on for this documentary.
