Dave Portnoy Wants Paul Pierce At Barstool Sports

Paul Pierce became a free agent when ESPN parted ways with the former NBA champion following his decision to share a racy Instagram Live video. Since his departure, Barstool Sports has continued to emerge as the most logical next stop for Pierce.

Five minutes after Pierce’s exit from ESPN was reported, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy expressed interest in a deal and he’s since confirmed his plans to make a run at the former Celtics forward. Portnoy has said “we’d love to have him,” also noting contact has been made with Pierce’s agent and they’re scheduling a call for next week.

Pierce and Barstool have shown mutual interest, with both sides openly flirting on social media. While Disney didn’t appreciate the former Celtic’s willingness to flaunt his escapades with exotic dancers on social media, Barstool is a more forgiving platform.

A 10-time All-Star in the NBA, Pierce was rather pedestrian as a broadcaster for ESPN, but with less than four years as an analyst under his belt, Barstool might see some untapped potential.
