Syndicated television ratings come in very slowly. That is why we are just now finding out how well the first full week of April played out for Jeopardy. That week was the first of Aaron Rodgers’s two week run as guest host.
Rodgers’s presence helped the ratings jump by 14%. The Nielsen live-plus-same-day rating was 5.6 on average, placing Jeopardy ahead of other syndicated game show juggernauts Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.
Jeopardy also saw its best ratings in a month with Rodgers at the helm. His first week of hosting rated better than guest hosting stints from Katie Couric and Dr. Mehmet Oz.
If the show’s producers were turned off by the idea of a full-time host that also was playing in the NFL, maybe these numbers are enough to change their mind. Rodgers has reiterated that he is open to taking the job full-time and has recently diversified his media interest with an investment in the Online Sports Database.
