Jac Collinsworth Added To NBC’s Kentucky Derby Coverage

Anyone that has worked in sports media will tell you that it’s not often someone makes the jump from university straight to the limelights of ESPN’s Sunday “NFL Countdown” as a features reporter and hosting other shows such as “NFL Live” and “The Huddle.” Sure, it helps to have a father that has already accomplished a lot in the broadcasting realm, but that is only enough to get you the opportunity. You have to show talent in order to stick around.

Jac Collinsworth is one of the rising stars in sports broadcasting as the 26-year-old, who is now at NBC Sports and serving as an on-site host for “Football Night in America” and NBC Sports’ Notre Dame football coverage. Collinsworth will be diving into something outside of football. He will be part of NBC’s Kentucky Derby coverage as a reporter, the network announced in a press release

“I grew up in the infield and parking lots of Churchill Downs,” Collinsworth, a Kentucky native, said. “It’s a horse race that writes history and a party unlike any other. Kentucky is buzzing already.”

For most of his professional career, Collinsworth has worked on the football side of sports media. The young broadcaster did work for NBC while attending the University of Notre Dame as the network’s first social media correspondent at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
