Leading up to the NFL Draft, Justin Fields was the divisive prospect heading into the event. Various analysts, fanbases, and media outlets shared their opinions on why the quarterback should or shouldn’t be selected in the top ten.
This discussion trickled its way to “The Dan Patrick Show,” where two of the Danettes agreed to a bet over where Fields would be drafted. Should Fields be selected by pick eight, Patrick “Seton” O’Connor would take a pie to the face.
However, if Fields goes with the ninth selection, Andrew “McLovin'” Perloff, but there’s more this bet. Every pick after the number eight that goes by before Fields is selected results in Perloff taking a pie to the face, up to as many as 24 pies should Justin Fields have fallen all the way to the final pick of the first round.
In the end, Fields would be drafted 11th overall by the Chicago Bears, meaning that Perloff would be taking three pies to the face, with the bet being paid on Friday’s edition of the show.
Dan Patrick also had a debt to pay from a wager three years ago in which the radio host stated that Trevor Lawrence wouldn’t live up to the hype and wouldn’t go first overall in the NFL Draft. Patrick would also see a pie to the face alongside Perloff.
