Over the last few weeks, there have been various reports regarding MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s future with the network. However, The Hollywood Reporter reports that multiple sources confirm that the anchor plans to extend her deal with MSNBC.
The MSNBC anchor recently hired Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and president Mark Shapiro to better represent her in discussions with the cable news outlet. Her deal was due to expire in early 2022.
Maddow has hosted her show from the 9 pm slot since 2008, and she’s one of the first significant on-air talents to extend her deal under new president Rashida Jones.
There were reports regarding Maddow possibly departing MSNBC and working on her digital media outlet, but it seems as though the anchor will remain a vital part of the network.
Neither party has commented on the reported contract extension, nor is there any information on how long the deal is for Maddow. Nonetheless, a source states the MSNBC anchor will also have an expanded role to develop other projects for NBCUniversal.
