ABC News sees a familiar face return to take over its vice president of communications as Van Scott returns to the network following a stint with Vice Media.
Scott fills a position that’s been vacant since the departure of Julie Townsend in May. In this role with ABC News, he’s responsible for publicity plans for the news division.
“We will benefit from Van’s gifted approach to delivering meaningful results during this moment in history when supplying timely, relevant news is more important than ever,” Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, said in a statement, per Deadline.
In his first stint with ABC News, Scott was the director of communications. He oversaw publicity strategy for breaking news, political coverage, and special events for the network until last spring.
Scott would then join Vice Media, where he would be their vice president for communications.
As the vice president of communications, Scott will be reporting to Godwin and Shannon Ryan, president of content marketing, Hulu, and general entertainment.
