Congratulations are in order for Jason Jackson. The broadcaster is moving from the sidelines to the broadcast booth for the Miami Heat. The team announced Thursday that he would succeed Mike Inglis on the team’s radio call.
Heat fans know Jackson well. He has been with the team for the last 17 years, providing studio and sideline coverage on the team’s television broadcasts.
It is certainly helpful for the team to replace a legend with someone the fanbase already knows. Inglis was one of only two English language radio voices for the Heat. He announced his retirement from broadcasting earlier this week after 23 years with the team.
“Becoming the radio voice of the Heat is a dream come true,” Jason Jackson said in a statement. “Thanks to Hall of Fame Cincinnati Reds’ broadcaster Marty Brennaman, I fell in love with the artistry and responsibility of carrying the power and passion of sports over the airways. I look forward to picking up where Mike Inglis so notably left off, and applying those elements and tenants to the Miami Heat Radio Network each game night.”
National fans may recognize Jackson’s name and voice too. He is a host on SiriusXM’s NBA Radio.
Pat Reilly called Jason Jackson “a very versatile and talented voice with a sense of humor that’s off the charts” in a press release.
